Shimu
Latest News
Our favourite Chinese furniture retailer has moved to a new showroom and can now be found on the high street in the picturesque village of Saltaire. The 1500 square foot building houses a great selection of their classical Chinese furniture mixed in with Chinese antique pieces. This will soon to be supplemented with a new shipment of antiques due any day. Saltaire was declared a World Heritage Site in 2001 and the famous Salts Mill is just yards from the showroom, making it a great place for a day out. And of course for those out of reach, all of the furniture is also available to buy online at www.shimu.co.uk. |

Notes to Editors...
Based on the pure, clean styles of the Ming Dynasty Chinas
golden age, Shimu offers the beauty & simple elegance of classical
Chinese furniture. Each item is handmade by skilled craftsmen in Shanghai,
using traditional carpentry methods. The furniture is produced using
reclaimed, local elm wood which has been seasoned and kiln dried. While
some pieces are hand-painted with traditional designs, most of the furniture
is available in a choice of finishes warm elm, light elm or black
lacquer. In addition to these standard colours the company can provide
alternative finishes, to match a customers own colour schemes.
As well as the standard ranges, Shimu is also able to provide a bespoke
service and source individual antique pieces through their supplier
network in China. |
