Thomas Crapper & Co.
Latest News
A new edition of Flushed with Pride: The Story of Thomas Crapper will endeavor to provide you with that crucial loo reading. Thomas Crapper, the Victorian plumber and sanitaryware manufacturer whose name has become synonymous with the water closet, is commemorated in a new edition of the book to mark the centenary of his death on 27 January 1910. Although the founder of the Thomas Crapper company did not actually invent the toilet he did much to popularise it. Based in Chelsea, he opened the world’s first bathroom showroom in the 1870’s and was soon invited by the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) to supply sanitaryware for Sandringham, gaining his first Royal Warrant. The new edition book has been published with a foreword from Simon Kirby, who restored the company to a thriving business several years later. The company offers an authentic range of Victorian/Edwardian sanitaryware. Unlike most ‘reproduction’ bathrooms, historical accuracy has been maintained with no changes to design. |

Notes to Editors...
The name Thomas Crapper & Co has an illustrious history and is synonymous
with the finest in sanitaryware. Having held four royal warrants through
five reigns over 140 years, the company is now owned by Simon Kirby.
Independent once again, Thomas Crapper & Co continues to manufacture
the finest bathroom fittings. Based in Stratford-on-Avon, the company
offers a small yet extraordinarily authentic range of Victorian/Edwardian
sanitaryware. Unlike most reproduction bathrooms, historical
accuracy has been maintained with no changes to design, other than very
small alterations to allow connection to modern plumbing. All sanitaryware
is made in Great Britain. In addition, the company has many years experience
in restoring and converting original, antique bathroom fittings. |
