Shimu offers an exclusive range of traditional Chinese furniture and an extensive selection of restored antique furniture, sourced from the diverse regions of China. Shimu’s traditional range is handmade by skilled craftsmen in Shanghai and the designs are based on the pure, clean styles of the Ming Dynasty – China’s golden age. The furniture is produced using reclaimed, local elm wood which has been seasoned and kiln dried. While some pieces are hand-painted with traditional designs, most of the furniture is available in a choice of finishes – warm elm, light elm or black lacquer. On the antique side, they now hold a wide selection of beautifully restored pieces from China’s provinces, each with its own story to tell. And if you still can’t find what you’re looking for, Shimu also offer a made-to-order service and source individual antique pieces through their supplier network in China.
