The Atom Client Day, held on the 7th of October at the Good Housekeeping Institute in London in association with Hearst Magazines UK, was a huge success.
After a welcome at 11.30 am from Jude Secombe - Publishing Director of Hearst’s Lifestyle Group we went through to the GHI’s restaurant where the bottles were already uncorked. First of all we were treated to a presentation from Chris Tarafa - Publisher of House Beautiful about the magazine’s re-design and continued success in terms of year on year increases in circulation.
Country Living took a slightly different approach in the shape of a game called ‘The Rat Race’. After being divided into teams, this took the form of a huge board game upon which stuffed cuddly toy rats stood at the starting line. Each team had to write their answers to Mario Kyriacou – Country Living Ad Manager’s questions on a post it note before scrambling to stick them on David Parker – Publisher who to keep things fair was continually on the move around the room as well as adjudicating.
After a delicious home cooked lunch it was Atom’s turn to take to the stage to provide a sneak preview of our new website, which was a hit with journalists and clients alike. The new site is due to launch officially on the 20th of October…so watch this space!
With very successful presentations and lunch out of the way we turned to the even more important activities of singing, dancing and yes…more drinking. Miraculously all guests managed to stay together for the short walk to The Source Below karaoke bar, which we had rented to take us into the evening. As well as the Hearst crowd, we were also joined by senior representatives from other major publishers such as IPC, Conde Nast and BBC magazines. The standard of singing was very high and it was just a pity that there were no talent scouts in the room!
As well as being very enjoyable, we would like to thank all of those involved for helping to make it a successful and constructive day.
